NZL60 refurbished
and back on display
Sir Stephen Tindall has taken the initiative of refurbishing the famous America’s Cup boat, NZL60, for the upcoming 36th America’s Cup event. He engaged BIG to reproduce the boat livery for the branding that had been produced some twenty years ago.
Our design team recreated the artwork, as what we had on file from the original production was not up to today’s resolution requirements due to the evolution of digital technology. We then printed and applied the graphics to restore the boat to its former glory.
The bulb at the bottom of the keel carries the world-famous Team New Zealand flame job. In order to accurately recreate the design, we examined the paintwork meticulously before the bulb was repainted in black. The flames were airbrushed over the top.
To complete the project, a custom-made cradle was manufactured and fitted with signage panels that display the story of NZL60.
She has been proudly positioned outside the Emirates Team New Zealand building in the Viaduct Basin for all to admire.
