Wearable
Can Dispenser
2026 Pride In Print Awards – Packaging (All Other Materials) – GOLD
This project involved the design, prototyping, production, and assembly of custom wearable can dispenser backpacks for Mānuka Phuel. Designed for use at festivals, music events, and open-air gatherings, the units provide a unique and engaging way to distribute ready-to-drink products while maximising both brand visibility and dispensing efficiency. Our engineer developed a custom gravity-fed can dispensing mechanism to deliver cans smoothly from the top-loading point to the dispensing area at the base, combining functionality with a seamless user experience.
Several days were spent prototyping and refining the internal angles, tolerances, and material clearances to ensure cans moved smoothly and reliably through the system without jamming or catching. Once the mechanism had been perfected, four production units were manufactured.
Each backpack unit is designed to strap securely to the back of a staff member and is capable of carrying up to 38 cans, allowing product to be distributed quickly and easily within crowded event environments.
The top-loading design allows units to be quickly restocked during events, while the dispensing mechanism ensures the next can automatically drops into position as each can is removed.
The final result is a highly functional and memorable promotional tool that combines practical product distribution with experiential branding and audience engagement.
